As I’ve confessed before on this Substack, I would probably publish more posts if I didn’t find myself constantly distracted by one thing or another, leading me down endless rabbit holes.
Hmmmm, I don't think I'll get to that point because I'm sure I won't work at any of his buildings. He remains important to me, not only for his magnificent and unique designs work, becausehe designed the angel cornices on the row house of my great grandfather, Victor Falkenau (whom you wrote about), on Wabash Avenue (that are now in the Chicago Institute of Art). His uncle performed the services for Victor's wedding and his mother's funeral. Plus my grandmother and her sisters played in the lot on South Woodlawn while the house was under construction. For all those reasons, I still admire him.
Interesting as always! Thanks for sharing these articles--FLW's son-in-law the inventor of Lincoln Logs? How funny--architecture for the people ('s children)!
I’m not a fan of Wright either……overrated, in my opinion.
Great post! Interesting morsels of information!
This post was full of interesting tidbits. Thank you. I'm curious about what you have against Frank Lloyd Wright.
Probably having worked at his buildings for many years. You end up having a love/hate relationship with the man.
